Dear Caregivers: You Deserve A Break

Everybody needs a break once in a while to avoid burning out, especially seniors’ caregivers who have to endure a great amount of stress on a daily basis. However, it can be difficult to set aside a good amount of time to really relax your mind & body when you’re a caregiver.
Below are some quick & simple measures you can use to recharge yourself.
Sweets
A sugary sweet can give you an energy boost on the spot, so if you want to recharge yourself, don’t be hesitate to splurge on some delicious sweets. Be it a gooey cupcake or a refreshing & scrumptious ice-cream, don’t ever feel guilty to enjoy them decadently. Make a quick stop at your favorite bakery or ice-cream shop to indulge in something delicious & over the top. If you can’t enjoy it right away, make sure to find yourself some time during the day to sit down in a quiet spot, savor every bites, and release some of your worries during that break.
A Walk
Nothing can be more relaxing than to go out, soak in some sunlight, listen to your favorite tunes, and become one with nature. When you’re expose to a reasonable amount of sunlight, your body will produce a certain amount of vitamin D that will help you feel more awake & energetic.
During the walk, let your mind wander away from all the concerns & worries you’re facing, even if it’s just for a short while. If you happen to stumble upon a shady bench, sit down for a moment, take a deep breath, and enjoy a moment of calmness.
Fresh Flowers
Flowers can help to brighten your spirit, make you feel more relaxed, and remind you that there are so much beauty that can be found in life’s simplest pleasures.
A Scented Candle Or Fragrance Oil
Aromas can bring the feeling of happiness, freshness, and relaxation to you when you’re feeling down & exhausted. Choose some good jazz, curl up in your bed after a long day, and let yourself be revived by invigorating & wonderful scents.
A Good Book
Reading is considered a great form of escapism. Pick up a good book and keep your worries at bay for an hour while you indulge in every words. Better yet, brew yourself a nice cup of tea or coffee, choose a comfortable spot, and let your mind wander on its own.
A Spa Visit
You have to take care of someone every day, so at least just for once, let someone take care of you for a change. Take the time to unwind your mind and lower stress while enjoying a good massage or a manicure & pedicure for an hour or so. If you can’t make it to the spa, find yourself a new nice & comfy pair of pajamas, take a long warm bubble bath, and finish it off with a good slather of your favorite scented lotion.
Your life as a caregiver might become crazy & hectic at times, so it’ll be better if you can set aside some alone time to calm yourself down & clean your mind at least once a week. Remember, if you are unwell, it’s impossible for you to take good care of your seniors, so take care of yourself first!
