Yvonne Miller has been awarded 2015 CAREGiver of the Year by Home Instead Senior Care Melbourne Outer East. The prestigious award recognises Yvonne’s outstanding commitment to providing quality care that enhances the lives of seniors and their families in Melbourne’s outer eastern suburbs.

Suzanne McLoughlin, Managing Director of Home Instead Senior Care Melbourne Outer East, said Yvonne’s kindness, patience and compassion are some of the endearing qualities that make her a standout CAREGiver.

“Yvonne exudes warmth and is a great listener who has the ability to help clients and their families to feel comfortable, valued and supported,” Suzanne said.

“She has cared for many of our most complex clients and consistently takes the time to delve deeper and get to know their personalities and circumstances to fully accommodate all of their complex needs.

“Yvonne started providing care services to a client who had recently lost his wife and was in the early stages of dementia.

“He was initially resistant to the idea of receiving help at home, however Yvonne’s gentle approach helped the client feel at ease. She rediscovered his passion for music and dancing and engaged him in long conversations about his farming life. He quickly began looking forward to her visits!”

Yvonne is proud to be a CAREGiver with Home Instead and enjoys the freedom she has to make her care services personal and tailored.

“I am honoured to have received the 2015 CAREGiver of the Year award,” Yvonne said.

“I previously worked in an aged care facility but there was never enough time to do what you really needed or wanted to do for the resident. I feel like I’m truly making a difference in my role with Home Instead.”
